Password Attacks
Guessing or stealing passwords at scale.
What it is
Attackers use automated tools to try millions of password combinations, or use leaked passwords from past breaches.
How it works
If you used the same password on a site that got hacked, attackers will try it on your email, bank, and social accounts.
How people get tricked
We reuse passwords because remembering is hard. One leak then unlocks everything.
How to protect yourself
- ✓ Use a password manager (Bitwarden, 1Password, Apple/Google built-in).
- ✓ Make every password unique and at least 12+ characters.
- ✓ Turn on two-factor authentication everywhere it's offered.
- ✓ Check haveibeenpwned.com to see if your email was in a breach.
Know this now
Length beats complexity. A long passphrase is stronger than 'P@ss1!'.
